Built in 1930, the Eastern Building in the theater district is my favorite example of art deco architecture in Los Angeles. The building now houses condominiums. It would be cool to live there but at around a million dollars for a loft it is slightly out of my price range. The surrounding theater district has a gritty urban feel to it that gives the area a life of its own. Whereas I might feel compelled to throw on a suit or shirt and tie before a night out in Broadway NYC, I feel perfectly at home in ripped jeans and an unwashed T-shirt in LA's gem of a theater district.
